John Milton’s Sonnet XIX, known as â€Å"When I Consider How My Light Is Spent† is a sonnet considering one’s handicapping distress considering a period less truth that the Apostle Paul composed of: everything work to the great who love God and one in this manner figures out how to be content no matter what. The sonnet that will be considered here is the 1673 content imprinted in The Riverside Milton, altered by Roy Flannagan. The choice of Riverside was not to intercede into the content, however to leave as it was composed. Hughes’ changes embed accentuation, capitalization and spelling to refresh it to a cutting edge crowd. By modernizing the sonnet Hughes has adequately changed the importance to what he as the supervisor had as a top priority.
